And even though a lot of this is just an act, I sometimes actually am quite sad.

And this week I've been kinda shattered.  But we don't talk about that.

Instead, here's another video.

This video is a caricature of what this blog is all about and it's way over the top and it's meant to be taken as a joke.  But if you don't want to take it as a joke, what can I tell you, do what you likes.

This video has also been described as a great example of outsider art, but I think that's just a way of making up excuses for: the shaky amateurish camera work / my stubble / my cold sore / the fact that I'm missing out some words when I get too overwhelmed by the blade.  Plus I think A-Girl was drunk when she said it.

Also, this is my favourite song of all time hands down.

There's one video left this week and that one does not have a maudlin soundtrack, plus it's taken in the shower.  If you're into that sort of thing.

i couldn't watch it. it was just too morbid. shower one sounds way better. unless of course you bring some sort of appliance with you so you can electrocute yourself. then i won't be able to watch that one either.

So, I broke into the palace
With a sponge and a rusty [dagger]
She said, “Eh, I know you, and you cannot [lip]sing"
I said, "That's nothing - you should hear me play piano"

You've really outdone yourself!

I like the fact that I can tell that you are using your mac to do this, you can see the shadow of a laptop on you :]

What take was that? It's certainly not the first because there are red marks on your neck from poking yourself a lot. Is that the dagger you spoke of before in earlier posts? I imagined it to be more stereotypical like a dagger Macbeth would have. I like the handle details. Is that filigree on the blade I see?

I've never heard this song before but I think I like it, especially the part where he keeps asking "why are you alone tonight".

Just a thought though, this doesn't really fit into the rest of the other videos, unless this is a mundane thing for you, YOu just laying around molesting your neck with a dull dagger.

dick: It's more comedy really, innit

bolt: Very good

tim: Thank you :-)

trybaby: Probably take 3-4 or something. I would have given up after this to be honest. Yeah that's the dagger. I don't know what a filigree is!

Clearly you have access to the internet. So I'm sure you can figure it out. But if you are being lazy then I'll tell you. It's work of a delicate kind made with twisted threads usually of gold and silver or stitching/etching of the same curvy motif, to suggest lace. Basically just a lot of curly Q's making it look all victorian-ish.

trybaby: I was being lazy. Plus I often refuse new knowledge because I'm stubborn like that

Thought you might likes these, I know I do. Even though I could never use it, well maybe once every month, not that I'm complaining.

Let's be honest - you normally shave with that machete.

you have definitely outdone yourself!

also, that's by far my favourite smiths song, and i like how your birth marks are in a straight line

Yawn, More writing less videos.

London Preppy said...

franck: I hadn't noticed that, but I'm very proud of it now

riky: I have to say I definitely agree. It crossed my mind that I should start a side-blog where I can post videos if I want, so I can just exclusively write here on this one

It must be just the angle but you look like a little boy in this video. Cute....in a ...pedophile kinda way? ;-)
Also, I thought the moustache was a thing of the passed. Is it making a come back? And how come this time it's black?? :)

alwaysready: My facial hair is always there, I haven't wet shaved for years. It's just shorter or longer depending on how recently I've trimmed it.

As for the blonde/dark question, half of it is blonde half of it is dark so it depends on what angle/light you see it under

Don't Ever Do That Again!! That's how accidents happen...

I Know It's Over may be my fav Smiths song, followed by How Soon Is Now (which has the distinction of containing that classic line about going to a club, standing around and then going home and wanting to die - which I LOVE).

Loved it; definitely art. So Tate Modern on a 6m x 6m screen in the dark; people in black polo necks looking up and going 'wow'...

...or in a painfully minimalist setting here: http://www.labiennale.org/en/art/

It would be so perfect; so 'now' and just bubbles over with end-of-civilisation zeitgeist.

Seriously, I am enthused. Could one actually make it happen? Thinks...

Unlike many of your blog's readers I am old enough to remember when that song first came out and how listening to it the first time completely floored my like few songs, before or since, have ever been able to do. That someone had the courage to open a song with such a powerful image, and then proceed to make that only the starting point of a crescendo of pain and longing, is something that amazes me still.

London Preppy said...

forehand: As pointed out below, it's so old and blunt nothing could have happened

red exile: Yes please, sort this out, I'm waiting for the call

george: Ha ha, only you George would complain that the dagger isn't sharp enough!

skountouflis: M'aresei poly afto pou les gia tin aisiodoksi melanholia!

guy: Well described :-)

I don't know why I'm just now getting around to this video but wow it was awesome. I have an old Chinese knife I sometimes did that with back in college...take it out of it's sheath and rub its cold metal against my flesh..
